Founded in 2003, and based in Kilsyth, Victoria, Septic Systems Australia (SSA) specialises in the installation, servicing and repairs of all types of residential and commercial septic systems.

SSA is partnered with Harmor Services, a specialist in liquid waste services. Together, SSA and Harmor offer their customers a fully-integrated one-stop-shop in the wastewater industry.

Customer service is paramount to our business and we continue to provide outstanding service to both residential and commercial customers, including Yarra Valley Water, Ampol, Linfox, Boral, Hanson, Holden, the Department of Education, several Tier 1 and 2 builders, and many local Councils, Primary Schools, wineries and restaurants.

Job tasks and responsibilities

This role, Yard Manager, is a critical full-time role that works across both businesses to ensure that all teams are sufficiently resourced with tools, materials, equipment and vehicles to manage current and upcoming jobs.

The tasks involved will be to:

  • Monitor inventory levels for all materials, tools and equipment;
  • Undertake regular stocktakes and maintain the accuracy of databases (on computers);
  • Manage the maintenance of all tools, equipment and vehicles;
  • Accept and organise deliveries to, and from, the business;
  • Operate a fork lift;
  • Communicate effectively with Harmor and SSA teams to ensure the businesses are sufficiently resourced;
  •  Provide support to all teams, as required, including ad hoc call outs to customer properties;
  • Undertake periodic internal safety audits;
  • Ensure the yard, offices and equipment is cleaned to a high standard on a regular basis;
  • Manufacture components and spare parts for wastewater systems.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this position it is ideal that you have the following:

  • A current Forklift licence;
  • Experience working in a plumbing/drainage/trade business;
  • Knowledge of septic systems and irrigation fields; and
  • Medium or Heavy Rigid licence.
